Trails

Syd’s Rapids and Aboriginal Heritage Trail

Bush Walk
5.1 kilometres

The Syd’s Rapids and Aboriginal Heritage Walk trails can be accessed from either the Walyunga Pool carpark or Boongarup Pool where the two trails meet. The combined distance of both trails is 5.1km return The trails are located in the Walyunga National Park, 40 kilometres north east of Perth.  These family friendly trails provide interpretation on the indigenous history, plants and animals and the history of white water rafting in this beautiful location.

Echidna Trail

Bush Walk
11 kilometres

This 11 kilometre loop trail in Walyunga National Park initially follows the Avon River before it ascends steeply to the western side of the river.  It passes through marri and wandoo woodland, currently with a thick understorey of regrowth after fire, before offering good views of the Avon Valley from Woodsome Hill.

Kangaroo Trail

Bush Walk
4 kilometres

The Kangaroo Trail is an easy four kilometre loop trail in Walyunga National Park which crosses creeks among granite boulders, wandoo and marri. There are some short rocky ascents and descents, with good views across to the opposite side of the river.

Kingfisher Trail

Bush Walk
6 kilometres

Located in Walyunga National Park, this six kilometre moderate trail follows the river upstream to Syd’s Rapids before heading up a steep gravel track.  This area was burnt a few years ago and now has a thick understory of regrowth with the burnt eucalypt trunks visible above.  It intersects with the Echidna and Kangaroo trails.
