Louisa Bay is also known for its beautiful coral communities in about three metres of water. Corals grow from about 200 metres from shore and include staghorns (Acropora species), massive corals (Porites species) and pink pocillopora coral (Pocillopora species), but cabbage corals (Turbinaria species) are dominant. Reef fish include coral trout, blue-lined emperor and scribbled angelfish.
Diving and snorkelling in the Shark Bay Marine Park should only be done on a slack tide. Take care not to anchor on fragile corals. Stay alert for boat traffic.
