Proposed social research to be conducted on Parks and Wildlife-managed lands and waters requires prior approval before research begins.
Visitor fees apply to some Western Australian national parks. Fees are payable daily per non-tour motor vehicle entering an area of Parks and Wildlife land and the person in charge of the vehicle is liable to pay the relevant fee UNLESS that person is authorised by Parks and Wildlife to enter that area for the purpose of research.
Fees are also applicable in some marine parks, e.g. whale shark passenger charge. All Parks and Wildlife fees and charges are statutory (set by legislation) and may only be waived by the Director General or their delegate. Fee waiver applications must demonstrate that they are undertaking research related to the land/water where the fee applies.
The following form is to advise of intent to conduct social research on land/water administered by Parks and Wildlife and to apply for a fee waiver for the purpose of research. As such, if approved, both entry and camping fees are waived for the parks and period specified ONLY while approved applicants are in the process of carrying out research approved in this form.
Advice of intent to conduct social research on land/water administered by Parks and Wildlife should be made to:
