Fitzroy River flood waters have carved the 30-metre-deep Geikie Gorge through the limestone at the junction of the Oscar and Geikie Ranges.

Danggu Geikie Gorge views are of spectacular multicoloured 30 metre deep cliffs carved by the floodwaters of the Fitzroy River through the Devonian fossil reef.

Cultural guided boat tours begin in May and end at the end of October (weather permitting).

  • Bush Walking

There are a number of walk trails to enjoy while exploring Geikie Gorge.

    Reef (Jarrambayah) Walk
A pleasant, but moderately difficult walk along the base of one of the gorge walls.  Follow trail markers along the sandy bank of the Fitzroy River floodplain to the West Wall of Geikie Gorge past limestone reef outcrops sculpted by seasonal flooding. Best early morning and late afternoon. Carry drinking water, and avoid climbing the reef wall as the terrain is extremely rough and dangerous.
Distance: 4.4 km return.  Time: Allow 2hrs.

    River (Bunguu) Walk
An easy 30-minute return walk along the banks of the Fitzroy River to the Sandbar.  This area is popular fishing and swimming place. Swimming is at your own risk. Beware of submerged snags and logs, avoid diving into water.

    Rarrgi (Rock) Walk
An easy 600m return walk that meanders through some of the limestone rock formations, allow 30 minutes. This is a nice short walk to take while waiting for your boat tour.

  • Fishing

Fishing in the national park is permitted. Fishing from the bank is allowed at the downstream end of the gorge near the Margaret River Sandbar. Lure fishing is not to be conducted between the sandbar and the northern end of the western wall. Department of fisheries regulations must be adhered at all times.
