  • Canoeing/Kayaking

Canoeing is very popular in the Murray River but remember to always supervise children in and around the water. Conditions on some sections of the river will vary according to the season. Caution: During the winter months, the river flows fast and levels can rise rapidly after rain. Objects under the water can be difficult to spot and may become hazardous

Protective safety equipment is a must, and make sure you let someone know where you plan to go canoeing. Always plan to canoe to your ability and skill level. Always use one of the many canoe launch sites to keep bank erosion to a minimum, contact DPaW’s Mundaring office for more information on 9290 6100.

For more information contact Canoeing Western Australia on 6364 3659 or visit Canoeing Western Australia. A ‘Canoeing the Murray’ brochure is also available at the entry station, at Dwellingup Visitor Centre and at DPaW's Dwellingup Office.
