The Bloodwoods is one of the starting points for Mini Palms Trail, Homestead Valley Trail, and the southern end of the Escarpment Trail. There are toilets, shaded picnic areas and the Bloodwoods Lookout. It is 19km from the visitor centre.
Mini Palms Trail – Allow 2 hours
Class 5. 4.4km return
This is a moderately challenging 4.4 km return walk to the Bloodwoods. There are steep slopes, narrow edges, and large boulders to climb over, under or squeeze between. Climb the stairs to reach two viewing platforms which are surrounded by Livistona palms and the soaring cliffs of the surrounding gorge.
Homestead Valley – Allow 2 hours
Class 4. 4.4km return
This 4.4km return trail to the Bloodwoods cuts deep into the range, through open woodlands and an uneven, dry creek bed. The trail ends at a shaded rest area overlooking views of Homestead Valley.
Escarpment Trail - Allow 2 hours.
Class 3 7.2km return.
Follow the Escarpment trail along the range through open woodlands and spinifex hummocks to Echidna. The path is exposed to the sun and crosses uneven, stony, dry, creek beds.
The turnoff to Mini Palms is 1km along the tail and a further 2.6km to the Echidna carpark.
Both Mini Palms and Homestead Valley can also be accessed from the Echinda car park via the Escarpment Trail.
