The Castle Rock picnic area is a great location for picnics with excellent facilities and is the starting point for the walk to the Granite Skywalk.

Castle Rock Walk Trail

A relatively steep return walk to the Granite Skywalk leads from this site. Moderate to good fitness is required. The path traverses yate, marri and karri forest and takes you past the famous Balancing Rock. Flat granite slabs offer views and places to rest. Karri Lookout is a place to ponder the Porongurup Range landscape, forests and wildlife.

Reaching the Granite Skywalk on the summit of Castle Rock requires scrambling over and under granite rocks and then climbing a 6m ladder.  

Distance: 4.4km return Trail classification: Class 5  Time:  1-3 Hours

Walitj Meil Walk Trail

The Walitj Meil Walk Trail is an easy to moderate loop walk which follows the edge of the forest to a scenic view across to the Stirling Range. The return to the picnic area passes through karri forest with information about local plants and animals, colonial history and Noongar culture.  

Distance: 1km  Time:  30 minutes  Trail classification: Class 3.
